NGMA

After finishing my research in the central part of India, I landed in Delhi yesterday. My core plan was to visit various libraries and national archives to dig out some earlier research material about the truck art of India.

Sticking to my initial plan, today I visited the National Gallery of Modern Arts (NGMA), New Delhi and met its assistant librarian, Mr. Kapil Dev Sharma.

After going through the collection at NGMA, I was able to pull out some information about the motifs and symbols that are used on trucks across India. While the emphasis was to find books that could provide some more information about the inception of automobile decoration in India, even these books seemed like not-a-bad start.

While I was getting deeper into their collection, the sun started setting too. It was time for the library to close for the day. I plan to visit other libraries too hoping to find some substantial information about the artform.
