Saharanpur – Agra – Udaipur

Some people in Sirhind, and later even my dad had suggested that we should visit Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh. Saharanpur is quite famous for woodwork that goes into decorating trucks, and we knew if we went there we could find some important material for our documentary film. In the morning on June 5th, we left Ayan’s apartment in Delhi to go to the bus station to get to Saharanpur. With bags of clothes and equipment for 2 days, we reached the bus terminal. But the minute we saw the bad condition of the state transport buses, we dropped our plan. We’re in the peak of summer, and travelling uncomfortably in this season can exhaust us leading to our research getting adversely affected.

After we decided not to go to Saharanpur, we were contemplating heading to Agra or Jaipur instead. And as the buses to those cities leave from Bikaner House in Connaught place, we first took a rickshaw ride over to the other bus station. And when we reached there, there was a bus waiting to leave to Udaipur. Flashback: Ajmal in Mumbai had mentioned about a truck painter named Ashraf from Udaipur who was renowned for his work in the field. That’s it. We boarded the bus and headed to Udaipur. In about 14 hours, we reached the city at 6:20 am the next morning.
